92 points 2002 A&G Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir Smooth
and silky, a beautifully open-textured red dripping with sweet plum, blackberry
and currant fruit, shaded with the mocha notes of spicy oak. A stylish
wine that’s tempting now.

2002 A&G Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir
New wineries on the block, such as Gypsy Dancer, are also demanding
attention for their Pinot Noirs. In 2001 Gary Andrus sold his interests
[of past Oregon and Napa Valley Wineries]. In 2002, he bought the
former Lion Valley property just in time to cut the crop by about a ton
per acre and make a lovely wine labeled Gary & Christine’s
Vineyard 2002, which has crisp acidity to balance its plum and currant
flavors. Gypsy Dancer’s A&G Estate Vineyard 2002, made
from a Red Hills vineyard owned by Andrus, is richer and more stylish.
Andrus says he was attracted to the site because of its closely spaced vines—at 4,000 per acre, the densest in Oregon—and has continued the style in planting the remaining 20 acres, all visible from the family home built atop the property.
Wine Spectator June 15, 2005
90 points 2003 A&G Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir Dense and chewy,
with a fresh sage note running through the ripe cherry and black olive flavors,
finishing with a smoky edge.

91 points 2002 Gary & Christine’s Vineyard Pinot Noir Round
and ripe, with crisp acidity to balance the plum and currant flavors, shaded
with tarry, meaty notes as the finish lingers. Has plenty to offer, and
a long way to go.
Wine Spectator June 15, 2005
91 points 2003 Gary & Christine's Estate Vineyard
Pinot Noir Broad and generous, a supple mouthful of ripe cherry, boysenberry,
exotic spice and sweet oak flavors that persist into a long, vivid finish.
PINOT REPORT November 30, 2005
90 points 2002 Gary & Christine’s Vineyard Pinot Noir Medium-deep
ruby purple color; deep, bit closed, some spice, earthy notes; rich, big, full,
lots of reduced black cherry and plum, sweet, toasty oak and some earthy notes
as well; good structure, balance and a long finish. Deep and complex,
this Pinot has great reduced and complex fruit.
PINOT REPORT August 22, 2005
90 points 2003 Gary & Christine's Vineyard Pinot
Noir Medium-deep ruby purple in color; deep, spicy, cherry, berry aroms,
rich cherry and spicy flavors with sweet oak and a silky mouthfeel; good
structure and balance, long finish. Nice cherry flavors and silkiness make
this a delicious Pinot for a wide range of cuisines.
NORTHWEST PALATE March/April 2004
Highly Recommended 2002 Gary & Christine’s Vineyard Pinot
Noir Alluring aromas of black cherry fruit and spiced graham. Juicy
black cherry flavors balance toasty oak into a youthfully spicy yet elegant
finish. Balanced, rich, and spicy; pair with lamb or beef ragout.

2002 Gary & Christine's Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar May/June 2005
89 points 2003 Emily's Reserve Pinot Noir Medium,
slightly hazy red. High-pitched red berry, oak spice and forest floor aromas,
with cool, subtle floral notes of rose and violet. This offers the brightest
flavors of this set of releases: tangy crushed raspberry and fresh mint.
Gained weight with time in the glass but retained its’focus. Finishes
long and spicy, the red berry tones lingering.
NORTHWEST PALATE January/February 2005
Recommended 2003 Emily's Reserve Pinot Noir Aromas
of graham, black cherry, and vanillin oak. Warm, spicy flavors of red fruits
with a youthfully tannic finish.
CHRISTINE LORRAINE PINOT GRIS PRESS
NORTHWEST PALATE March/April 2004
Recommended 2002 Christine Lorraine Vineyard Pinot Gris Perfumed
aromas of melon, pear, and grapefruit. Green-apple tart, but with just
enough fruit for balance. Best with food; pair with steamed mussels.
CENTRAL OTAGO DAILY TIMES August 18, 2004
Gibbston Home Estate Pinot Noir, Central Otago 2003 is American Gary Andrus’first
Central Otago Pinot Noir, from his home vineyards in Gibbston. Andrus,
who named Gypsy Dancer after his baby daughter Gypsy (known as Gigi), has three
vineyards in Central and several in Oregon and California, allowing him to
make a “veritable New World tour of Pinots.” This Central
Otago wine shows the region’s typical spice and cherry fruit with concentration
and balance, and a hint of bitterness on the finish.
