Owners
Gary & Christine Andrus, daughters Gypsy Gail (Gigi, pictured) and Romanée Christine (Romy, not pictured)
Gary and Christine met in Colorado. Christine was working for a wine distributor in Durango and Gary was in town promoting his former wineries. It was love at first sight.
Christine is of Romanian descent, and has spent much of her life traveling and experiencing life's grand adventures. It is with these two elements in mind that Gary and Christine came up with the name Gypsy Dancer, not only for their winery but for their daughter as well. Gigi was born in September 2002 and Romy was born in September 2004...as if harvest wasn't busy enough...
Winemaker
Gary Andrus
Gary, a graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in organic chemistry, earned his Masters Degree from Oregon State University, an EPSC certificate from Stanford University, and a PhD in Oenology at the University of Montpelier, France. Prior to founding his former winery in Napa Valley, Gary worked in Bordeaux and returned in 1985 to work for Chateau Lynch-Bages. Gary started his winery in Napa Valley in 1978 and a winery in Dundee, Oregon in 1993. He sold his shares of those wineries in 2001 to start Gypsy Dancer Estates.
